Vinous

The 2022 Ferrière is packed with inky dark fruit, lavender, chocolate, new leather, licorice and incense. This muscular, brooding Margaux is seriously intense in every dimension. I would give it at least a few years in bottle, as the tannins are rather imposing at this stage. Ferrière is one of the most virile and imposing wines in Margaux. The 2022 spent 18 months in new oak, once-used barrels, concrete ovals and amphora. 01/2025

The 2022 Ferrière, from a vineyard that contains plenty of old vines according to proprietor Claire Villars-Lurton, was cropped at 24 hl/ha. This has a complex, nuanced bouquet that opens beautifully in the glass, with red plum, blackberry fruit and light flinty scents coming through with time. The palate is very well balanced and briny with a fine bead of acidity, a strong marine influence and gentle grip on the black olive-tinged finish. This is excellent. 01/2025

Robert Parker/Wine Advocate

The 2022 Ferrière offers up aromas of cassis, blackberries and cherries framed by hints of cigar box and leather. Medium to full-bodied, rich and textural, it's layered and creamy, with powdery tannins and ripe acids, concluding with a plummy, somewhat lactic finish. 03/2025

Another delicious, up-front, textured Margaux in the vintage, the 2022 Château Ferrière boasts a deep purple hue as well as red, blue, and black fruits, some leather, smoked meat, and leafy herb nuances, medium to full body, and just a charming, round, mouth-filling style that's going to drink well right out of the gate. I tasted this during my trip to Bordeaux and rated it 89-91, but a sample shipped to me later showed considerably better (either that or I clearly mis-rated it in April), and I've updated the rating accordingly. 05/2023

Couleur noire. 04/2023

Dusty spices with a lactic touch to the deep black fruit. Full-bodied and rich, this shows plenty of blackberries and dark chocolate lingering in a structured yet lengthy finish. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drink from 2027. 02/2025
