Vinous

Very good medium ruby. Expressive, highly aromatic nose combines black fruits, violet, bitter chocolate and espresso. Tightly wound and intensely flavored, with deep black fruit flavors and considerable sweet, spicy oak. Tannins are firm but not hard. A solidly built wine that should age well.

A candidate for wine of the vintage is the 2000 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Boisrenard. Subtle aromas of vanillin intermixed with blackberry, black cherry, chocolate, and espresso characteristics explode from the glass. In the mouth, there is firm tannin as well as enormous fruit, undeniable southern Rhone typicity, powerful, concentrated, thick flavors, and a finish that lasts for 45 seconds. This is a stunning effort for Boisrenard. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2020.
