Vinous

The 2016 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is surprisingly discrete and understated on the nose, precise mineral-rich black fruit mixed with orange zest and iodine, gradually opening up with aeration. The palate is well balanced with a sorbet-like freshness on the entry, more red fruit here, cranberry, kirsch, raspberry coulis mixed with hints of fig and white pepper that lead to a spicy but quite strict finish. Tasted at the Domaine. 05/2019

Inside Burgundy

Rich mid purple, violets and indeed some floral notes on the nose, with peonies and violets, beautiful harmony on the palate, more Chambolle than Morey in style for once. This has a particularly noble texture, with fine grained cherries up front, and myrtilles at the back. Juicy and sappy says Francois Millet, adding the descriptor lumineux after reflection. Keep for twenty years minimum, please. Tasted Oct 2017.
