Vinous

Bright, deep red-ruby. Wonderfully complex and expressive aromas of black raspberry, pepper, musky game, minerals, mocha, chocolate, leather and dried flowers. Then rather tight in the mid-palate, dominated by youthful structure and not currently showing the fat or pliancy of the Chapelle. But this penetrating grand cru boasts terrific incipient complexity, a powerful sense of the soil, superb definition and grip, and a very long, firmly tannic, almost minty finish that promises fireworks ten years down the road. 03/2008
