Vinous

Brilliant dark red. Slightly reduced aromas of medicinal black cherry, blackberry, cocoa powder and crushed stone. Vibrant and fine-grained, with strong saline minerality contributing to the impression of inner-mouth tension. Finishes very long, with serious but ripe tannins and terrific limestone grip. This very refined wine is built for a slow evolution in bottle. 11/2014

Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses has a perfumed bouquet with heightened floral notes: impressive delineation with the red fruit usurped by black with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannin and acidity that is perhaps singing from a different hymn book. There is body and volume here, though it is missing a little persistence on the finish, runs out the back door before you have really got acquainted. Afford this 4-5 years to fully coalesce and I am sure it will merit a higher score. Tasted September 2016. 11/2016
