The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru, from the only part that is under Musigny, has a fragrant and poised bouquet with violet-tinged blue fruit. Fine delineation here. The palate is smooth and quite sensual with fine tannins, just a slight and welcome bitterness that keeps this on edge towards the finish. Quite linear on the finish, this will deserve several years in bottle, but it needs more joie-de-vivre and, for want of a better word...soul. 11/2021

The last vintage to be vinified by François Millet Hugely deeper in colour, almost a rich black centre with a slightly fresher bright rim. Concentrated black cherry with dry tannins. Heady and rather heavy, showing the heat of the year but freshening up a little at the finish with good length. Drink from 2030-2040. Tasted Sep 2023.
