Vinous

(50% new oak): Dark red with ruby tones. Lively aromas of blackberry, cassis, dark plum, licorice and mint, accented by fresh herbs. Densely packed, energetic and light on its feet, conveying a cool, minty character to its black fruit flavors. Plenty of oak showing here but this premier cru has the thickness and medicinal reserve to support it. Finishes a bit youthfully tight, with firm tannins and piquant minerality. 12/2016

The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Chatelots has a crisp and precise bouquet, here, a mixture of red and black fruit with a floral element, hints of crushed violet surfacing with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a velvety texture, a silver bead of acidity, veins of blood orange struck through the red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit, the openness on the finish belying the structure underneath. This is just superb. 12/2016
