The 2019 Chardonnay opens intense yet refined and elegant on the nose, with flinty notes underlining the perfectly ripe fruit that is as precisely pictured as a Dürer etching. It is fascinating how the coolish calcareous slate terroir of Fläsch and Malans interplays with the richness and ripeness of the fruit as well as the choice of the barrels. This is also a perfect match on the palate, which is rich and complex as well as elegant and even refined, leading to a salivating finish that reveals lemon bitters, mineral freshness, fine tannins and a long, abnormally complex finish. Tasted at the domaine in March 2024. 03/2024

James Suckling

Stunningly fresh and delicate nose of lemon zest, pear and hazelnut with a touch of toasted baguette. Extremely elegant and spicy on the medium-to full-bodied palate that is cool and finely nuanced, the intense stony character building dramatically at the incredibly dynamic finish. Drinkable now, but best from 2023. 01/2022
