A fine, slightly meaty nose with an odd scent of Marmite on burnt toast. The palate is very sweet like the 1999, with black fruit laced with liquorice and a touch of tar. Quite dense, but not exactly harmonious. Still, it is not bad, but should be better given the vintage. Tasted May 2006. 05/2006
