Antonio Galloni

Vinous

The 2023 La Confession is a powerful, dense wine. A virile, heady Saint-Émilion, La Confession is packed with dark red cherry, plum, scorched earth, gravel, menthol, licorice and chocolate. It offers tons of intensity and resonance in the early going. Bright acids and beams of supporting tannin extend the finish. Tasted two times. 04/2024

Robert Parker/Wine Advocate

Aromas of dark berries, cherries, rose petals and licorice introduce the 2023 La Confession, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy, layered wine that concludes with a mineral finish. This estate on the plateau and north slope of Saint-Émilion has stopped deleafing and green harvesting in the vineyards and is now blending earlier and refining cooperage choices in the cellar. 04/2024

Spicy red and black plums, tobacco, spring flowers, and smoky oak all emerge from the 2023 Château La Confession, a medium-bodied, nicely balanced, classic, old school-styled Saint-Emilion that has ripe, foursquare tannins and a good finish. It's clearly well-made and I suspect will benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age. The blend is 70% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Malbec, aging in 50% new oak, with 20% in amphora. 05/2024

A juicy wine with plenty of berries and a floral note. Medium body. Some good fruit at the core. 04/2024
