Vinous

The 2023 La Louvière is packed with dark red cherry, spice, leather, tobacco, scorched earth and gravel. A rich, heady wine, the 2023 offers plenty of depth and overall complexity. There's good potential here and certainly more precision than in the past. The blend is 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, raised 85% in French oak barrels and 15% in amphorae. Tasted two times. 04/2024

Vinous

The 2023 La Louvière has a well-defined bouquet with black cherries, bilberry and light floral scents percolating through with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded tannins. This is less austere than many of its peers, with fine acidity and slightly savory black fruit. There is a juiciness here that I appreciate, and it should drink well after just three or four years. 04/2024

Cassis, smoky oak, graphite, and ample spicy nuances all emerge from the 2023 Château La Louvière, a medium-bodied, focused, elegant, nicely concentrated Pessac-Léognan that has good mid-palate depth, plenty of tannins, and a great finish. Tasted twice. 05/2024

The core of fruit in this is beautiful with seamless tannins that run the length of the wine and deliver a cylinder of refined fruit. Long at the finish. Better than 2022. 04/2024
