Vinous

The 2023 Le Bon Pasteur is a sensual, layered wine. Dark cherry, plum, licorice, chocolate, spice, menthol and dried herbs all build nicely. The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, vinified in equal parts barrel and tank. The fruit comes rom a collection of 30 micro-parcels, most of them on the Saint-Émilion/Pomerol border. Tasted two times 04/2024

Vinous

The 2023 Le Bon Pasteur has an uncharacteristically classical bouquet with sous-bois infused dark berry fruit, just a touch of gravel coming through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm tannins that frame the assiduously spiced black fruit. Possessing fine grip and cohesion, there is just a bit of hardness on the finish, and it cuts away too quickly. 04/2024

The 2023 Château Le Bon Pasteur comes from the more eastern part of the appellation, and it has a deep ruby/purple hue as well as a rocking nose of red plums, mulled cherries, tobacco, and ample spicy wood. Nicely balanced and medium to full-bodied, with good mid-palate depth and a great finish, it's another outstanding, balanced, impressive Pomerol in the vintage. 05/2024

Assemblage : 80 % merlot, 20 % cabernet franc. Degré d'alcool : 14° - pH : 3,77. Rendement : 40 hl/ha. 04/2024

A clarity of fruit and good balance align with very fine tannins that run the length of the wine. Medium to full body. Very tight, refined and persistent on the finish. May be better than 2022. 04/2024
