The 2022 Marquis de Terme is a challenging wine to taste, as it was en primeur. It's hard to get past its searing tannins, angular contours and aggressive personality. Tasted three times with consistent notes. 01/2025

Vinous

The 2022 Marquis de Terme has a classic, almost Pauillac-styled bouquet with blackberry, wild hedgerow and light tobacco scents. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, but the substance drops away halfway through, making the finish feel a bit mean. I wanted to like this more than I do. I tasted it twice, and the notes were consistent. 01/2025

A blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot, the 2022 Marquis de Terme expresses aromas of oak, spices, pencil shavings and ripe dark berries. Concentrated but a bit over-extracted and with firm and chunky tannins, it reveals a broad-shouldered, punchy style that privileges power over charm. 04/2023

Based on 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot, the 2022 Château Marquis De Terme is brilliant stuff, with a richly textured, concentrated, medium to full-bodied style. Ripe darker currants, scorched earth, graphite, and lead pencil nuances all define the aromatics, and it's balanced, with a pure, layered mouthfeel and ripe tannins. It ranks with the finest vintages of this cuvée to date. Give bottles 3-5 years and enjoy over the following two decades or more. 02/2025

Vin très coloré, au nez intense, pur et fruité qui sent bon le merlot dans du fût neuf. Bouche ronde, très fruitée, agréable, mais peu construite. Longueur normale. 02/2025

Blackberries and pencil shavings with blueberries and dark chocolate follow through to a medium body with a solid core of pretty fruit and a polished and refined palate. The tannin structure is very impressive, yet there is an underlying freshness. Drink after 2027. 01/2025
