Vinous

The 2016 Poujeaux has a pretty, floral bouquet that reveals a light marine influence in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a potent spicy entry, plenty of black pepper and tobacco and a boisterous finish. A little uncouth but still enjoyable. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting. Medium garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Poujeaux is scented of fried herbs, tar and earth with baked plums and a waft of rocks. The palate is medium-bodied, firm, chewy and herbal. November 2018

An outstanding Moulis made with consulting help from Stéphane Derenoncourt, the 2016 Château Poujeaux offers up a rock star, medium to full-bodied, layered profile as well as pretty notes of ripe black fruits, graphite, violets, and background oak. Give this sleeper 2-3 years of bottle age and it will impress for a decade or more. 02/2019

Blackberry, blueberry and orange-peel aromas follow through to a full body with a solid core of fruit and a fresh, tangy finish. The hazelnut and walnut undertones add to the complexity. Drink in 2021 and onwards. Februar 2019
