Vinous

The 2024 Sansonnet is very fine. Naturally, the wine is not quite as deep as in most years, but Sansonnet has complexity and structure to burn. Black-toned fruit, new leather, licorice, incense and chocolate all fill out in a delicious and highly promising Saint-Émilion. There's plenty of texture in the mid palate, naturally in the style of the year. Tasted three times. 04/2025

Vinous

The 2024 Sansonnet comes across as a bit oaky on the nose compared to its peers and previous vintages, though a second bottle towards the end of my tastings exhibited more integration and composure. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins, bold in structure, yet I am seeking more composure and mineralité to come through, which might develop once in bottle. A bit short, though. 04/2025

Sporting a deep ruby/plum hue as well as classy notes of red, blue, and black fruits intermixed with obvious minerality and graphite, the 2024 Château Sansonnet is medium-bodied, with a pure, layered, elegant mouthfeel, ripe, polished tannins, and a great finish. It's clearly outstanding and, I suspect, will be a terrific value. 05/2025

Assemblage : 86 % merlot, 7 % cabernet franc, 7 % cabernet sauvignon. Degré d’alcool : 13° - pH : 3,45 – IPT : 66. Rendement : 34 hl/ha. Production : 26 000 bouteilles. 04/2025

Good depth of flavor for the vintage, showing a touch of red pepper to the spiced blackberries and cherries. Medium- to full-bodied, this has juicy fruit and crunchy tannins that deliver good vibration. Long finish. 04/2025
