Vinous

Good full, deep red. Musky redcurrant, cherry and roasted coffee aromas are lifted by pungent minerality and show a medicinal reserve. Suave and silky but quite penetrating, with ripe but classically dry flavors framed by vibrant minerality. Broadens out impressively on the back half, finishing with superb energy, structure and perfume. Classic, austere Clos Vougeot with a long life ahead of it.

Robert Parker/Wine Advocate

The Jadot 2006 Clos Vougeot – one lot of which was parked in tank for nearly six months while waiting for the other to finally undergo malo – exhibits an unusually dark color for its collection offers a polished, rich, velvet-textured melange of lightly-cooked black fruits underlain by roasted red meats and finishes sedately but with memorable savor and length. Lardiere's fears that the wine might end up disjointed have thus proven unfounded, and I suspect that this classic example of top-notch Clos Vougeot will be worth following over the next decade. And since there are a thousand cases of it, quite a few wine lovers can share that experience.
