The 2020 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru left me perplexed out of barrel, but it proves its mettle in bottle. It has quite an intense bouquet with more black than red fruit, a little musky in quality, though it is well-defined. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. With a mixture of red and black fruit, brown spices and tobacco, this Clos de Vougeot is well-structured with a controlled, focused, sapid finish. Very fine. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. 09/2024

Mid purple, with some freshness to the fruit, and just a little smoky touch, from the stems again. This may be the prettiest perfume of the Clos de Vougeot’s made in that style. Intense crushed strawberries behind, with a more classically savoury finish. Tasted Sep 2024.
