Vinous

Full ruby-red, clearly deeper than the regular Clos Vougeot bottling. Precise aromas of black cherry, minerals and underbrush, with an exotic suggestion of cherry liqueur. Creamy-sweet, silky and fat, with a high-pH mouth feel and distinctly candied fruit aspect. A distinctly lush wine with a '47-like texture. Finishes sweet and round, with utterly seamless tannins and strong lingering spice character.

Robert Parker/Wine Advocate

There are only 3 barrels, almost 75 cases, of the magnificent 2003 Clos Vougeot Vieilles Vignes. Its boisterous aromatics reveal licorice, plums, cherries, and blackberries. Sumptuous, fleshy, and concentrated, it is a glorious, stupendously sweet wine. Medium to full-bodied, satin-textured, and sappy, this wine is so exquisitely ripe, its tannin, discernable in its hugely impressive finish, is plump and almost viscous. Drink this gem over the next 15 years.
