Thomas Studach's 2019 Malanser Pinot Noir offers a marvelous, precise, spicy and fruity bouquet of tobacco, red and dark fruits as well as minty notes. Round, intense and sweet on the palate, this is a generous, very elegant and refined Pinot with silky tannins and intense, persistent fruit with fine tannin grip and ripe sweetness (20% whole clusters). The tannins are ripe and crunchy, even mealy, and the fruit is ripe and juicy, maybe a bit too charming for my taste. This wine is based on 90% Pinot clones (115, 777 and 116). After a difficult and wet vintage (the opposite of 2018), the harvest took place in early October. "2019 was a challenge in terms of Drosophila suzukii and selective harvest," says Thomas Studach. Bottled in February 2021 and tasted one year later. 13% alcohol. Diam cork. 03/2022
