The 2006 Dom Pérignon P2 is a total stunner. It's a vintage that seems to be especially suited to long aging. Everything about the 2006 is amplified. Its aromatics, fruit and structure are simply dazzling. The explosive finish is unforgettable. 04/2025

I have had the privilege of tasting this wine a couple of times and in direct connection also tasted the usual normally disgorged version of the same wine. Currently, they hold roughly the same class as P2 is a bit tighter and less developed, but at the same time even more complex and with a higher tail. The dosage is lower (4.5 grams) and the purity greater. The minerality and stringency with a certain tannic bitterness come through nicely in P2 and already now the wine offers a magnificent pleasure. The fruit is of course monumental and ripe as it should be from this round and packed year. My first bottle felt fully mature while my second had that slight resistance that slow autolytic build-up brings. The classic Dom Pérignon spectrum is present with an accent on orange, passion fruit, coffee and pine nuts. Silky mouthfeel and long, luscious, well-balanced finale. A wine that will last an incredibly long time and is highly recommended. 09/2024

The 2006 Dom Pérignon Plénitude 2, disgorged in early 2023 with a dosage of five grams per liter, is showing beautifully today. It wafts from the glass with a deep bouquet of toasted hazelnut, tangerine, peach and dried flowers, mingling with wheat toast, mocha and subtle inflections of passion fruit, all framed by a smoky reduction. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and ample yet vibrant, with a generous core of fruit, ripe but lively acids and a pinpoint mousse. It concludes with a long, delicately phenolic finish in which attractive aromatic bitters assert themselves. This is a charming vintage that has often been overlooked, yet in its P2 iteration, it is considerably less evolved today than some might assume, also presenting drier and more aromatically defined than the original release. It delivers the structural presence one associates with the season while also offering appreciable cut—and it is also a wine that can age. It is less nakedly chalky than the 2008 Plénitude 2, yet it remains appealing in its own distinct register. 12/2025

The 2006 Dom Pérignon P2, crafted from a blend of 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay with a modest dosage of 4.5 grams, is presenting exceptionally well at this stage. It unfurls a complex, deep bouquet of smoke, ripe orchard fruits, mango, exotic fruits and spices. Medium to full-bodied, rich and expressive, it’s harmonious and enveloping and has gained structure and tension compared to the initial 2006 Dom Pérignon, while the palate is perfectly balanced with delicate gastronomic bitterness and chalky dry extracts that contribute to its long, mineral-driven finish. It should go well with delicate fare. P2 is the acronym for the Plénitude 2 series, Dom Pérignon’s second life, indicating that bottles are kept by the house to let them age on the lees and to obtain different expressions of the same wine throughout its life, letting time work its magic and thus acquiring additional complexity. 05/2024

A fully evolved and toasted Champagne. Notes of cotton candy, walnuts, yogurt and a lot of white chocolate with lemon zest vibrancy and a touch of pineapple at the core. Whiffs of minerals and lime tree. A full body with zesty acidity, fine pinprick bubbles, super elegant extraction and a juicy finish. Drinkable now, but can hold. 10/2024
