Vinous

The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Cherbaudes 1er Cru has a perfumed, quite floral nose, with wilted white flower and light peppery scents filtering through its expressive red fruit. It is quite classic in style. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins and red fruit laced with brown spices with just a touch of earthiness on the finish. This is recommended. 11/2024

Inside Burgundy

A bright crimson colour. The nose has a bright rugged raspberry and strawberry with no evident oak, though this appears at the back of the palate. A useful little touch of acidity with the final dark berry fruit. This builds beautifully at the finish and is harmonious all the way through. Drink from 2030-2035. Tasted Nov 2024.

Robert Parker/Wine Advocate

Aromas of orange zest, rose petals, plums and spices introduce the 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Cherbaudes, a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy wine that's supple, seamless and floral, with an elegant, harmonious profile. The 2023 vintage has turned out very nicely for Jean-Marie Fourrier and his team, delivering a generous crop of supple, charming, pure and fruity wines. Reminiscent of a somewhat deeper, richer version of the domaine's 2017s, they will offer a broad drinking window. As has been the case in several recent vintages, the team destemmed as usual, but they added back a proportion of stems, selected according to their maturity, to each vat. Percentages of new oak, as usual, were moderate, derived from Tonnellerie Cadus and complemented by some amphorae and stainless steel barrels. 01/2025
