The 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin Le Combe Aux Moines fleshes out beautifully in the glass with ripe dark berries, flowers, mint and spices. There is considerable volume and sheer heft in the glass in this dark, imposing Burgundy, but ultimately the Combe Aux Moines is defined by its precise minerality and sheer structure. In other words, this is a wine built for the cellar. 02/2012

Medium red. Cherry, earth, mocha and game on the soil-inflected nose. A step up in silkiness of texture from the tighter Goulots, offering good thickness to its pungent red fruit and spice flavors. This fat, sweet but youthfully backward Gevrey finishes with broad, fine-grained, thoroughly buffered tannins and a salty nuance. 03/2013
