Antonio Galloni

Vinous

The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Village, which comes from two or three plots, has a delightful bouquet of black cherries and raspberry fruit. Fine delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with a ripe dark cherry entry and fine acidity with a linear, quite sapid finish. Give this a couple of years in bottle. 11/2023

Inside Burgundy

Mid crimson to ruby. Quite a fresh raspberry nose, quite high toned. Fresh red fruit on the palate, good acidity, medium plus length, fresh red cherries, grows to the back of the palate so very persistent at the end. Drink from 2029-2037. Tasted Nov 2023.

Robert Parker/Wine Advocate

Fourrier's 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes offers up aromas of sweet, jammy cherries, berries and licorice, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and succulent palate with an ample core of pure, sun-kissed fruit. Jean-Marie Fourrier and his team have produced another attractive set of wines that, as usual, emphasize purity, generosity and sweetness of fruit—in one or two cuvées capturing just a touch too much of the 2022 sunshine, at least for this taster. As readers will remember, Fourrier remains convinced that 100 days of hang time between flowering and harvest are essential for attaining physiological maturity, so harvest here began on September 10. As has been the case in several recent vintages, the team destemmed as usual, but they added back a proportion of stems, selected according to their maturity, to each vat. Percentages of new oak, as usual, were moderate, derived from Tonnellerie Cadus and complemented by some amphorae and stainless steel barrels. 01/2024
